Petone Settlers Talent Centre

The Mitre 10 MEGA Petone Settlers Talent Centre is a development programme for players aged between 9 and 17 years.  Selected players attend specialised training sessions each week with a programme designed to maximise their potential in challenging and enjoyable sessions.

Roger Torres is the Director of the Petone Settlers Talent Centre and is supported by qualified coaches from within the club. Roger has his UEFA B qualifications and has a strong technical background that supports the development of players at a technical and tactical level.

The Mitre 10 MEGA Petone Settlers Talent Centre encompasses both talent and community pathways to enable all players (boys and girls) to develop to their greatest potential at all levels. Gary Jenkins (Director of Junior Football) leads the Community Skills programme for the talent centre.

Why has Petone started a Talent Centre?

Petone FC wants to give our young players the best chance possible to be the best players they can be. Following an assessment of the current football environment in Wellington and information from Capital Football regarding the existing Federation talent pathway, which is undergoing changes from 2019, Petone FC aims to ensure a strong development programme is available for our players.

In the future there will be greater emphasis placed on clubs for player and talent development.

Who is invited to join the Mitre 10 MEGA Petone Settlers Talent Centre?

Currently players in the Settlers and Wanderers teams (mixed league teams) from 11th – 14th grades, plus all Girls only teams from 9th grade up.
For those players currently involved in the Federation Talent Centre (FTC) – please contact to discuss participation in talent centre.

Is the talent centre for boys and girls?

Yes. There are sessions for boys and girls.

Girls involved in the mixed league teams have the option to attend the mixed league talent centre sessions or the Girls Only sessions.

When do the sessions take place?

Programme times for 2020 will be announced shortly.

It is expected that players attend all sessions each week to ensure they maximise the benefits and their development as part of the programme. Please discuss with the coordinator and/or coaches if this is not possible.
